Eytan Barnea discovered the PreImplantation Factor (PIF) and dedicates his professional life to bringing PIF from bench to clinics.
His discovery of PIF led to co-founding BioIncept, LLC which develops PIF-based diagnostics and treatments ranging from fertility treatment to autoimmune modulation and transplant acceptance. As Chief Scientific Officer and as SIEP chair, under his leadership, the PIF translational collaboration team he envisioned and solidified includes some of the world’s most respected scientists.
BioIncept owns a world-wide ~70 patent estate. Successful First-in-Human, Fast-Track awarded, clinical trial determined PIF’s safety and initial value as monotherapy. PIF received 3 (three) Orphan Drug Designations from the FDA to advance its development towards clinical use.
Dr. Barnea published over 150 peer-reviewed manuscripts and edited 4 specialty textbooks, including a textbook on Embryonal Medicine and Therapy co-edited together with Bob Edwards. In 1989, he received the Elkeles Prize ‘Scientist of the Year in Medicine’ from the Israel Health Ministry/Jewish National Fund. In 2012 he was awarded the Bratanov medal/prize of ISIR for his contribution to the development of Immunology. In 2016 Dr. Barnea was elected member of SMNH, Safe Motherhood Newborn Health committee of FIGO, the International Federation of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. In 2018 Dr. Barnea he was honoured to give a plenary presentation at the FIGO meeting on PIF potential applications in Pregnancy.
